About Me

Hey there! I’m Alex (she/her), a UK-based theatre director, intimacy director/coordinator, writer, and teacher. No matter which hat I wear, I value empathy, courage, and curiosity.

I love telling adventurous stories that amplify the experiences of women and queer folx, especially with themes of mental health, STEM subjects, and platonic love. Extra points if I can somehow incorporate a dinosaur. I am committed to using antiracist, consent based, and trauma-informed practices in my rehearsals and classrooms.

I hold an MFA in Theatre Directing at East 15 Acting School in London and a BA in Theatre from Whitworth University, where I also studied Mathematics and Spanish. As an intimacy professional, I have trained with Intimacy Directors and Coordinators (IDC) and Theatrical Intimacy Education (TIE).

Originally from Wenatchee, WA, USA, I now call London home. Before moving to the UK, I made theatre in Washington state, Chicago, Cleveland, Washington DC, New Hampshire, and Ahuachapán, El Salvador. After moving to London, I added Poland and Bali to my map of artistic adventures.

I am the creator of Out There (2022, Andy's Summer Playhouse) and the co-creator of Poetry and Prose (2019, Whitworth University), two original musicals. In 2024, Out There was shortlisted for further development with the National Youth Music Theatre in London.

When not doing theatre, you can find me buying too many books, eating an entire jar of dill pickles, or locating the nearest cat to snuggle with. My greatest claim to fame is baking FANTASTIC vegan black-bean brownies. Yes, you read that right- don't knock it til you try it!
